These terms cover your use of Kepter, a Mac app made by Maltby Ventures LLC ("we," "us"). By downloading or using Kepter, you agree to them.
We grant you a personal, non-transferable license to use Kepter on the Macs you own and use yourself. A desktop and a laptop is one plan, not 2. The app and its design remain ours.
Each Mac keeps its own library. Kepter on your laptop reads the laptop's folders and Kepter on your desktop reads the desktop's. They don't talk to each other.
Kepter is free for 30 days, with no card and no account. The clock runs on your Mac. When the 30 days end, Kepter stops working until you choose a plan. Your files stay where they are, in Finder. Do nothing and nothing is charged, because no card was ever taken.
After the 30 days, Kepter costs $2.99 a month or $39 one time. Those are founding prices. They'll rise to $4.99 and $59, and anyone already paying $2.99 keeps paying $2.99 for as long as they keep the plan. Updates come through the app on both plans.
Payments are handled by RevenueCat and Stripe, in your browser. We never see your card.
Open Kepter's Settings, choose Storage & Plan, and click Cancel Subscription…. That stops the next charge. You keep using Kepter until the end of the time you already paid for, then it stops until you choose a plan again. If Kepter won't open, email support@kepter.app from the address you paid with and we'll cancel it the same day.
Cancelling is how you stop paying. A refund is money coming back after it was taken. Email us if a charge landed after you tried to cancel, if Kepter didn't work on your Mac, or if it's your first paid month and you want out. In your first month we'll almost always send it back. We don't refund later months because you changed your mind or forgot you subscribed. The details are in Refunds.
Kepter reads your files in place and never moves, copies or uploads them. When you press Delete in Kepter, the file goes to the macOS Trash, the same as in Finder. If you stop using Kepter, your files are exactly where they always were.
Kepter keeps no copy of anything. If you delete or lose an original, Kepter loses it too. You're responsible for your own backups. What Kepter does keep is in the privacy policy.
Kepter reads text, dates and amounts out of your files on your Mac, and reading a scan, a photo or a recording is not exact. Treat what Kepter shows as a way to find the file, and check the original before you act on a number or a date in it.
No reverse engineering except where the law allows, no reselling or redistributing Kepter, and no using it to break the law.
We work hard to make Kepter reliable, but it's provided without warranties of any kind. To the fullest extent allowed by law, we're not liable for indirect or incidental damages, and our total liability is limited to what you paid us in the 12 months before a claim.
Stop using Kepter at any time by dragging the app to the Trash. We may end access if these terms are broken.
These terms are governed by the laws of the United States and the State of Wyoming, where Maltby Ventures LLC is organized, without regard to conflict-of-law rules.
If these terms change, we'll post the updated version here with a new date. Continuing to use Kepter means you accept the update.
