macOS compatibility status

Checked against macOS 26 · August 2026 · requirement raised to macOS 26 on 28 August 2026

The download on this site is always the current version, and Kepter tells you its own version under Settings → About. This page is updated whenever macOS changes the picture.

Your chip: Apple Silicon only

Kepter needs an Apple Silicon Mac, meaning M1 or later. On a Mac with an Intel processor it will not open at all, whatever version of macOS is installed. This is the first thing to check, because it is the one requirement no update can fix.

To find out which you have, open the Apple menu and choose About This Mac. A line reading Chip means Apple Silicon and Kepter will run. A line reading Processor means Intel and it will not.

Intel Macs can run macOS 26, so a current version of macOS is not on its own a sign that Kepter will open. If you are on an Intel Mac and want to know when that changes, email hello@kepter.app and we will tell you.

macOS 26 (Tahoe)

Required. Kepter reads your documents with Apple Intelligence, on your Mac. That is what makes searching by what you remember work at all, and it is the reason this is the version Kepter asks for.

macOS 15 (Sequoia)

Not supported, as of 28 August 2026. Kepter used to install here and read with text only. That is not the product we sell: it would not know a boarding pass from a receipt, and typing “my flight” would find nothing. macOS now refuses to install it, which is deliberate. Updating to macOS 26 is free on every Mac that can run Kepter at all.

Older than macOS 15

Not supported. Kepter requires macOS 26 or newer.

Known issues

None open right now. When something breaks against a new macOS release, this section will say so plainly, with what we are doing about it.
