Using Kepter

Search like you’d say it

Checked against macOS 26 · August 2026

Type the way you talk: “my flight”, “the power bill”, “grandma’s recipe”. You do not need filenames, because Kepter reads what is inside every file. The boarding pass knows it is a boarding pass.

When results appear, Kepter shows you why something matched, so you can tell at a glance whether it found the right thing.

Three searches in plain words. Kepter answers from what is inside the files, with the file itself below the answer.

Where to search

  1. The search field at the top of the drawer.
  2. The search field in the full window.
  3. Option-Space from inside any app: the full window opens with search ready.

Two honest notes. Search works while Kepter is still reading your library, but a file it has not read yet can only be found by name. And if a search comes up empty, this article walks through the usual reasons.
