Something’s wrong

A file isn’t showing up

Checked against macOS 26 · August 2026

Work down this list. One of these is almost always it.

If the roll is scoped to one folder, everything else is hidden. All folders puts it back.
  1. Is its folder watched? Kepter only shows files from folders you chose. Check the list in Settings → Folders, and add the folder if it is missing.
  2. Was it saved in the last few minutes? New files are read in the background. If the Reading status is showing, give it a moment.
  3. Is it a note or code file? Plain text files stay out of the drawer’s recent view by default so it stays visual. They are always in the full window and in search. To show them in the drawer too, turn on Notes and code in the drawer in Settings → Folders.
  4. Is it an installer, disk image, or zip? Kepter tracks these but does not read inside them. They appear in the full window’s “not read” list rather than the main library.
  5. Was the file moved or deleted in Finder? The library mirrors your folders. A file that left a watched folder leaves the library, and comes back if the file returns.

Not one of these? Email us with the file’s name and where it lives. We will figure it out with you.
