Indexing seems slow or paused

Kepter reads your library the polite way: while your Mac is idle, backing off the instant you touch anything. That is by design, and it means the first read of a big library takes hours of idle time, not hours of your time.

Only two things actually pause reading:

1. You paused it. Check the K in the menu bar or Settings → Folders. If it says Paused, click Resume.
2. Your Mac is critically hot. Kepter steps aside until it cools. This is rare and fixes itself.

Everything else is just the idle-first rhythm. The status shows progress so you can see it moving. The fastest way through a big first read: leave your Mac on, plugged in, overnight.

If the count has not moved in a day of normal use, that is not the rhythm, that is a problem. Email us with roughly how many files it shows and we will dig in.
